Three months, it had been damned near three months of day in day out boredom of the wifely kind. She'd shopped until she hated the sight of stores, shoved furniture until the house was turned upside down. She'd overseen delivery of so much electronic crap she wanted to set fire too it and NONE of it helped settle the ache she felt.
She'd taken to visiting New York a lot, pestering the holy hell out of Kate, dropping into friend’s parties she hadn’t seen since marrying Richie and THAT hadn't helped. It was boring with a capital B without him. Okay so it wasn’t just boredom, the truth of it was she missed him, from the flashing brown eyes and big strong body to the way he made her scream on a nightly basis. It was time to take action, before she went insane with it.
It had taken days to convince Kate, days upon agonizing days to get her to see the simplicity of the plan. Drive up to Pittsburgh and surprise them. Simple really. A wig, new clothes, they could do it. Hell she knew Katydid wanted to see Jon just like she wanted to see Richie, it wouldn’t take too much arm twisting.
It had taken days none the less, and she'd only won out after she'd flashed the laminates Michael had express mailed her. When Kate saw those she'd finally folded and fell in with her plans. And that was why she was standing here in the VIP line, vibrating like a freaking electrical wire. He was there, backstage, he was getting ready. She could close her eyes and picture him sliding on the leather, God she hoped he wore the leather and the hat.
She glanced once at Kate and nearly laughed at the look in her eyes, hidden by the humongous fake glasses, the platinum blonde wig that was so unlike her. "Ya ready Katydid?"
Kate swept the bangs out of her eyes and hiked up the off-the-shoulder leopard shirt tucked into pants that should have been a second skin. A wide, matching black belt cinched in her waist. Holy mercy she felt ridiculous. "I cannot believe you talked me into this outfit."
Her gaze flickered over Kate's outfit. "What? You look hot girl."
"I look like a hooker," she whispered viciously.
"And totally unlike Kate so he won't figure out it’s you. THAT’S the whole idea."
"My own Mama wouldn't recognize me," she grumbled. Her eyes widened as a hand groped over her ass. She turned her head around, looking over her sunglasses. "You'd best remove that hand, honey, or I'll be forced to shove this size seven up into your balls." She poured on the sugar knowing that if she lost her temper this charade was all over. Elena was far too excited about playing dress up.
When the guy just stepped back, she turned back around crossing her arms under her boobs. Looking down, she rolled her eyes and blew a bubble. "Might as well play up the tramp look." She hiked her arms up a little more. She just hoped the demi-bra covered her nipples. The shirt was riding low.
She laughed as Kate finally loosened up and went all out. "So tell me girlfriend," She popped her bubblegum rapidly. "How I look."
"I didn't know they made leather in just that shade of grape, Sweets." Kate's eyebrow quirked upwards as she focused on the zipper in the front of the bustier part of the dress. "Does that thing have a lock on it?"
She snorted, "Now why would I want to lock him out? Does look it though." She brushed the mass of red curls over her shoulders, and started to laugh, "the things you do when your hornier than a toad."
Kate swallowed down a laugh. Hookers didn't laugh, she reminded herself. "Yeah well," she stepped back on the same bold guy's instep with her heel. At his curse she moved away from his wandering hands. "The guys seem to have a loose sense of personal space here tonight."
Elena's gaze flicked back to the fresh handed guy and grinned. "I know someone ya know. British bulldog, if we need it."
"Would that be Michael?" Kate asked as they moved up in the line finally.
Elena nodded as the line moved. "That it would be."
She adjusted the strap of the gold lame hobo bag on her shoulder. She was tempted to climb into the purse...it was big enough and would cover up her girls. Christ, she'd never been on display so much in her life. Give her clean, soft scrubs any day.
They made it to the window and flashed their badges. Kate winced at the names they had to give to pick up the tickets. When they headed to the arena, she nudged her. "Did I have to be Trixie Sparkles? I mean c'mon."
Elena flashed her laminate and grinned, "Well you are sparkly honey."
"You're the one that dipped me in glitter," she groused. Biting down a bitch-fest she took the stairs slowly in her four inch spiked boots. She would pay for the boots, but hopefully most of the payment would be on her back.
She followed Kate in and felt her blood pressure ramp up a few notches. Just a few more minutes, she'd be seeing what she'd ached for. Just a few more minutes she'd be dancing, her off the shoulder outfit teasing, in just a few more minutes, she’d finally see what she’d started this quest over.
